Caribbean Breeze is a band around the musician and songwriter Héctor René Colón from Puerto Rico. He has played with the stars of the international Salsa scene like his fellow-countryman the singer Marvin Santiago, the pianist from New York Larry Harlow "el judio maravilloso", Puppy Santiago and the Cuban queen and living legend of Salsa Celia Cruz. She describes this style of music that was created in the 70ties by Lain musicians who lived in New York like this: "It's mambo, chachachá, rumba, son ... all the Cuban rhythms under one name". In his homeland Puerto Rico Héctor René Colón became known as the percussion player and backup singer of the band "Haciendo punto en otro son".
Today Salsa is recognized internationally, and played as well in the Caribbean as in Latin and North America but also maintains its established outposts in Japan and Europe. One of these outposts is Héctor René Colón with his band Caribbean Breeze.
The musicians of the band are all professional and international musicians from Germany, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Cuba.
The melodies and lyrics of the songs are all composed by him and were partially published in November 1997 on his CD "Colonísimo". The repertoire of the band - Salsa and Merengue - contains a mixture of the sounds and rhythms such as "Guaguancó" and "rumba callejera" with lots of percussion elements.
Furthermore Caribbean Breeze does on request a complete Caribbean show with dancers in exotic costumes from Cuba and Brazil.
